WHO & WHAT
IS DANCE SRQ?

Dance SRQ is an inspired collaboration between
Debbie Moran,
Kathy Oravec
and Mary Masi
.
The group came to be as an expression of three women’s desire to hold space for others to move Authentically. For Dance SRQ, Authentic Movement is unchoreographed, spontaneous, unique and creative. Authentic Movement may be done alone or in community.  It can be personal or shared. It may be rooted in, or draw from, certain “techniques”…yet, most importantly, Authentic Movement is self-guided, not “taught”.  It is usually occurs in a “safe space”, where freedom is agreed upon and protected by those participating and facilitators (who may or may not participate while “holding space”).  Dance SRQ give homage to the works of The 5 Rhythms, Isadora Duncan, The Ashville Movement Collective, Primal Heaven and other’s who have sought to provide space for people to move within, inspired by the soul. Yet, Conscious Movement stands on its own as a place to build community, honor self while honoring others and foster conscious, aware experiences through movement.
Dance SRQ extends deep appreciation to Normen Schindowski for his sound system support; Lenna Young Andrews for her lovely photo collages and radiant heart; and to all our consistent, generous supporters.
